Produced by the Government of St. Lucia and presented by the St. Lucia Arts Festival Company, Esperance, celebrating St. Lucia’s 30 years of independence was portrayed by a cast of nearly two hundred. Referencing key myths, legends and the real-life threads that fashion the fabric of St. Lucian identity, Esperance featured songs, dances, poetry, voice-overs, drama and a visual montage culminating with the presentation of the St. Lucian flag to Her Excellency Dame Pearlette Louisy, Governor General. Directed by Drenia Frederick, with a script by Adrian Augier, with music composed by Barbara Cadet, Ronald “Boo” Hinkson and Luther Francois. Choreography by Theresa Collymore, of the St. Lucia School of Ballet, Trevor King, Drenia Frederick and Richard Ambroise.
