Lodging
We were hosted by the following inns & hotels during our 8 months on-island.
Mango Beach Inn: Judith & John Verity, with their housekeeper Marie welcomed us on our first research trip. The rooms are comfortable, the breakfast delectable; the view of Marigot Bay made it hard to leave our patio. Judith is quite knowledgeable about St. Lucian culture; her introductions were invaluable.
Nature's Paradise: Perched high above the Caribbean, Nature’s Paradise is gorgeous. David & Wanda Wallace warmly welcomed us on our first trip to St. Lucia in 2004. The cottages are small but perfectly organized. Wanda has cultivated an incredible garden, while David is full of enthusiasm for all St. Lucia has to offer. Don’t miss Wanda’s breakfast muffins or the moment you pluck a ripe passionfruit off the vine for your breakfast.
Villa Beach Cottages: Colin Hunte and his staff made us feel at home from the moment we drove onto the property. Located on beautiful Choc Bay, Villa Beach is a home away from home.
Casa del Vega: Casa del Vega offers very comfortable apartment rentals for reasonable rates. Located in the Vigie section of Castries with a gorgeous view of the sea, and a small private beach, Casa del Vega is surrounded by lush gardens created by Merlyn Compton, the owner. Casa del Vega is just a few minutes walk from wonderful Vigie Beach and is near to all the amenities of Castries.
Oasis Marigot: Small but wonderfully organized cottages located a funicular ride above beautiful Marigot Bay.
Capella at Marigot Bay: The management and staff of Capella Resort welcomed us with great warmth and hospitality; the deluxe hotel is beautifully landscaped and comfortable.. We conducted many of our interviews while being hosted by the resort.
